How to Be a Little League Umpire
You can’t have a game without rules, and you can’t have rules without someone to enforce them. Umpiring gives you the best seat in the house and, along with coaching, is the most impactful way to help our players have a great game. Bonus: it’s a lot of fun.
Our veteran umpires will train you to do as much or as little as you want. Follow the steps below and check back here whenever you need a refresher.
1. Register as a Volunteer
Start at the Volunteer Hub so we can keep in touch and run the required background check.
- Little League requires every volunteer to complete a free electronic background check.
- The questionnaire only takes a few minutes—complete it once and you’re set for the season.
2. Connect with the Umpire Coordinator
Email the Umpire Coordinator so we can plug you into our communication channels.
- You’ll be added to the umpire Google Group where we post training dates, game sign-ups, and quick tips.
- You’ll also get alerts when new sessions, resources, or clinics become available.
We’ll take it from there!
⚾🌟 Expect a welcome message, training invites, and plenty of support from our crew.
