Volunteer at NCLL

To register as a volunteer with NCLL, please follow the four steps detailed below, including the estimated time and required resources. If you know what you're here for, please scroll down for the registration module.

  1. Register with Sports Connect (TIME: under 5 minutes) | (NEEDED: government ID)
  2. Explore Volunteer Roles Through Sports Connect (TIME: at your leisure) | (NEEDED: internet device)
  3. Complete Background Check (TIME: under 5 minutes) | (NEEDED: SSN, government ID)
  4. Complete Little League's MANDATORY Abuse Awareness Training (TIME: under 25 minutes) | (NEEDED: email)

Before engaging with players, all volunteers are required by law to complete a background check annually. Little League policy also requires all volunteers to complete Little League’s Abuse Awareness Training

Step 1 — Register with NCLL via Sports Connect (Approximately 5 Minutes)

  1. Visit the NCLL Website: Go to https://www.ncllball.com/
  2. Start Your Registration: Click the "Register" button
  3. Enter Your Email: Enter your email address and click "Continue"
  4. Create a Secure Password: Create a password that meets these requirements:
    • Minimum 8 characters
    • At least one uppercase letter
    • At least one lowercase letter
    • At least one special character (e.g., !, @, #, $, %)
  5. Click "Continue"
  6. Verify Your Email: Check your email inbox for a verification message from NCLL. Open the email and click the "Verify Email" link
  7. Note: This verification link expires after 24 hours. If it expires, simply restart the registration process from the beginning
  8. Select Volunteer Registration: Choose to register as a "Volunteer"
  9. Choose Your Programs: The system will display the volunteer programs you're eligible for. Select all that apply
  10. Complete the Forms and Checkout: Fill out all required forms. Even though there is no cost to volunteer, you must complete the checkout process to finalize your registration

Step 2 — Explore Volunteer Roles Through Sports Connect

To find and register for volunteer roles through Sports Connect, log into your account, navigate to the "Volunteer" section, and click "Find Volunteer Roles" to browse available positions and programs, then follow the prompts to register. Here's a more detailed breakdown:

  1. Accessing Volunteer Opportunities:

    • Log into your Sports Connect account
    • Click on the "Volunteer" tab in the My Account menu
    • Click on "Find Volunteer Roles"

  2. Browsing and Selecting Roles:

    • You might need to click "Show More" to see all available programs and roles
    • Choose the program you're interested in and click "View Available Positions"
    • Click on the specific division and role you want to volunteer for

  3. Registering for a Role:

    • Fill out the required information for the chosen role
    • Follow the prompts to complete the registration process

Step 3 — Complete the Background Check (Approximately 5 Minutes)

  1. Online Application: Complete the volunteer application online each calendar year
  2. Post-Registration Email: After registering as a volunteer, you'll receive an email with instructions for completing your background check
  3. JDP Platform: The email will include a link to the JDP platform, our secure background check service
  4. Complete the Questionnaire: Click the link (valid for 14 days), complete the questionnaire, and submit it
  5. Annual Requirement: Background checks must be completed annually before engaging with players

For the safety of our players, all volunteers working directly with children are required to complete a background check

Step 4 — Complete Little League's Mandatory Abuse Awareness Training (Approximately 25 Minutes)

  1. Access the Training: Go to the Abuse Awareness Training website
  2. Create an Account: If you're a new user, click "Create an Account". If you have an account, log in to the training portal
  3. Enroll in the Course: Navigate to "Courses" or "Training Programs," search for "Abuse Awareness Training," and enroll
  4. Complete the Modules: Work through the training modules, which include videos, reading, and quizzes
  5. Take the Final Assessment: Complete the final quiz and submit your answers
  6. Completion Record: At one time we asked that you returned to the registration with a code/certificate, we no longer ask this. The league will be notified electronically when you complete the training.

Little League International requires all volunteers to complete this vital training
